AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is the largest free, volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation program in the United States. In Montana tax preparation help to anyone for both federal and Montana state taxes. Our services are free of charge, focusing on taxpayers who are 50 or older and are low to middle income or to those who cannot afford paid tax preparation. There is no sales pitch and AARP membership is not required.
WHAT WE CAN'T DO
Every year we turn away a few people because we can't do their taxes. These taxpayers usually have:
rental income, or
a business with depreciable property, or
a business showing a loss for the year, or
a business with employees.
FOR MONTANA TAX PAYERS
Even though you may not itemize deductions for your federal return, it is still better for many people to itemize on their Montana Taxes. Be sure you bring in your medical expenses, taxes paid, charitable contributions and any other deductible items you may have.
