Bozeman tax-Aide Process

Welcome to the free tax preparation program provided by AARP Volunteers. The process has changed significantly due to COVID-19 and seeks to minimize personal contact. This year due to Covid-19 precautions, Intake and Returns will all be done at the


Bozeman Catholic Community Center

Below are the steps you need to take to get your tax return prepared.

1. APPOINTMENT SET-UP

  • At this time we are not scheduling appointments but are creating a contact list for appointments. To get on our contact list please call (406)-586-2421 and provide your Name, Telephone number and Email address.

  • You will be contacted by an AARP Tax-Aide Volunteer to schedule your appointment date and time.


2. FORMs REQUIRED & Helpful

A. If you have Internet access - Please print the following forms and complete them -

Form 13614-C Intake/Interview & Quality Review Sheet (aka)Intake Booklet,

(form 13614-C may be completed with your computer after you download a copy. aka fillable)

· B. If you do not have Internet Access the above forms will be provided at your scheduled appointment and completed at that time. Please allow extra time to complete the forms.


2. APPOINTMENT DAY

  • Read the following COVID-19 screening before your appointment

  • Wearing a mask is REQUIRED to enter the Bozeman Catholic Community Center Please arrive at the time of your appointment as there is NO waiting inside.

  • Bring your own pen

  • Bring a picture ID

  • When you arrive in the Bozeman Catholic Community Center (Formerly Hope Lutheran Church) SE corner of Grand & Olive, street parking, remain inside your car.

  • Call (406)-219-8546 to let them know you have arrived, your name, vehicle color, make and the general location of your vehicle. A volunteer will come out to you. A volunteer will come out to you and provide you with hand sanitizer, mask and a sanitized clipboard.


  • A. Form 13614-C Completed - Clip all your documents (including ID) on the clipboard. You will accompany the volunteer inside the Bozeman Catholic Community Center. The volunteer will check your documents and answer any questions you may have. Your documents will then be scanned and returned to you in an AARP envelope.


  • B. Form NOT completed - A volunteer will provide you a sanitized clipboard with form 13614-C and 14446 that are required to be filled out. Complete the forms in your car. Clip all your documents (including ID) on the clipboard. Call (406)-219-8546 to notify a volunteer that you have completed the forms and are ready to come in to the BCCC. A volunteer will check the documents and answer any questions you may have. Your documents will then be scanned and returned to you in an AARP envelope.


*Note: Your tax return will not be ready immediately, please leave to make the parking lot open for other Tax-Aide clients.

3. REMOTE TAX PREPARATION

  • While your tax return is being prepared remotely by a local volunteer, you may be called with questions by two different volunteers- a Preparer and a Reviewer. If you do not answer, a contact number will be left in your voicemail. Please have your last year’s tax return available.


4. SECOND APPOINTMENT: REVIEW & AUTHORIZATION

  • You will be called to schedule a 2nd appointment to review your completed Tax Return and sign the authorization form

  • Read the following COVID-19 screening before your appointment

  • Wearing a mask is REQUIRED to enter the Bozeman Catholic Community Center Please arrive at the time of your appointment as there is NO waiting inside.

  • Bring your own pen

  • Bring a picture ID

  • When you arrive in the Bozeman Catholic Community Center parking lot, remain inside your car.

  • Call (406)-219-8546 to let them know you have arrived, your name, vehicle color, make and the general location of your vehicle. A volunteer will come out to you.

  • ·A volunteer will lead you inside and verify your identity using your Picture ID.

  • A volunteer reviewer will review your tax return with you.

  • A volunteer reviewer will provide you with Form 8879 (IRS e-file Signature Authorization). By signing Form 8879 you agree that the responsibility for the accuracy of the information on the return is yours. Both you and your spouse (if applicable), will be required to sign, giving AARP permission to E-file your return.

  • You will receive the printed copy of your Tax Return and you are free to leave the site.

  • Be sure to keep your Tax Return, Intake Booklet and tax Documents inside the AARP provided envelope and store in a safe place for next year.

  • When return has been filed, a volunteer will safely destroy any copies of your documents in order to protect your personal information.
