Livingston Tax-Aide Process

Welcome to the free tax preparation program provided by AARP Volunteers. The process has changed significantly due to COVID-19 and seeks to minimize personal contact. This year due to Covid-19 precautions, Intake and Returns will all be done at the


Park County Senior Citizen Center

Below are the steps you need to take to get your tax return prepared.

1. APPOINTMENT

  • To schedule an appointment call (406)-451-1229 and provide your Name and Telephone number.

  • You will be contacted by an AARP Tax-Aide Volunteer to schedule your appointment date and time. Appointments will be Thursdays 9:00 to 11:30.

  • After scheduling your appointment go to the Park County Senior Center and get a AARP Tax-Aide packet. Read the instructions and complete all forms before your appointment.

2. FORMs REQUIRED & Helpful

A. If you have Internet access - Please print the following forms and complete them -

· B. If you do not have Internet Access the above forms will be provided at your scheduled appointment and completed at that time. Please allow extra time to complete the forms.


2. APPOINTMENT DAY

  • Wearing a mask is REQUIRED while meeting with AARP Tax-Aide volunteers. Please arrive at the time of your appointment as there is NO waiting inside. Your temperature will be checked.


  • A. Forms 13614-C and 14446 - A volunteer will check your documents and answer any questions you may have. You will leave your tax documents with the counselor after receiving a check list of documents you brought and an appointment time later in day for your second appointment. You are free to leave the site.

  • B. Forms NOT completed - All FORMS must be completed before your appointment.


3. TAX PREPARATION

  • The counselor will prepare your tax return and have it reviewed by another counselor.


4. SECOND APPOINTMENT: REVIEW & AUTHORIZATION

  • 2nd appointment to review your completed Tax Return and sign the authorization form

  • Wearing a mask is REQUIRED while meeting with AARP Tax-Aide volunteers

  • ·A volunteer will verify your identity using your Picture ID.

  • A volunteer reviewer will review your tax return with you.

  • A volunteer reviewer will provide you with Form 8879 (IRS e-file Signature Authorization). By signing Form 8879 you agree that the responsibility for the accuracy of the information on the return is yours. Both you and your spouse (if applicable), will be required to sign, giving AARP permission to E-file your return.

  • You will receive the printed copy of your Tax Return.

  • Be sure to keep your Tax Return, Intake Booklet and tax Documents inside the AARP provided envelope and store in a safe place for next year.
